Frequently asked questions

Henna also known as Mehndi is a dye prepared from the plant Lawsonia inermis, also known as hina, the henna tree, the mignonette tree, and the Egyptian privet, the sole species of the genus Lawsonia. Henna can also refer to the temporary body art resulting from the staining of the skin from the dyes.

I use a completely natural and organic henna, with no chemical additives or dyes. Henna is generally a very safe product for most people.

Henna will not develop its darkest and best stain for at least 24 to 48 hours after being applied, so please consider this when making a booking.

Yes! Once the henna is applied it needs to be kept dry and warm for as long as possible, ideally keep the henna on overnight (minimum 6-8 hours). Try to avoid water contact where possible. Keep the area moisturised with natural oils such as olive oil or mustard oil etc.

The stain can last from between 1 and 3 weeks depending where on the body it is applied and how you care for it.

Jagua henna is natural henna with natural fruit dye added from the Genipa americana, also known as jagua fruit to make the stain darker. It gives a much darker stain but is natural unlike PPD – para-phenylenediamine – which is a chemical hair dye used by unprofessional artists.

Yes. I have full public liability insurance.
